Self Referral

Do you need to see a doctor?

Patients can now self refer to a number of services without seeing a GP and doing so means you can get the treatment you need faster than if you see a GP.

Physiotherapy

If you have a painful muscle or joint, physiotherapy can often be the best treatment.

First Contact Physio

If you have not seen a doctor about your problem you can book an appointment with a physiotherapist, usually within a few days, via reception. These appointments are usually at Harewood Medical Practice in Catterick Garrison.

Physio Direct

If you have already seen a doctor about your problem then you can go through the physio direct service on 01609 763747. They can offer telephone support and also face to face appointments at Northallerton and Richmond.

Mental Health

The services below are options for people who need to be seen less urgently or who are looking for some self help resources.

IAPT

IAPT stands for Improving Access to Psychological Therapies. They are the main counselling service and this is where we refer most of our patients who need talking therapy. Their website is here or they can be telephoned on 01609 768890.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness is an excellent method for dealing with anxiety symptoms, poor sleep and a range of other problems and patients can now book onto a course to learn the various techniques they can use. We often signpost this course to patients and feedback from those who have done it has been very positive. You can self refer by phoning 01325 552017. Their website is here. Further information can be found here.

Recovery College

Recovery college is a website with a wealth of self help material for those with experience of mental illness, from people who suffer themselves to their families, carers, friends and staff. It can be found here.
